Don’t be afraid of Adventures, Pack you & Baby in 30 min or less

I have a great huge family and friends that live all over the US. The majority of the people I care about deeply are in FL, however, I have (basically) my whole Dad’s side of the family in GA right outside of ATL, and some really awesome close friends that I love in NC. I often talk about going to visit, but always find some reason or another not to. I mean, James works 8-5 Mon-Fri so there’s not a ton of time for family weekend trips, and for some reason I always have a fear of leaving the house for an extended period of time without him. I also always talk about how much I love traveling and having random adventures, and since I’ve had Cash it seems like I’m all talk and no walk. So, yesterday when my ex-step-mom Diane came from GA to visit us for an hour, I took her up on her invitation to ride back to GA and hang out with Cash at my Dad’s house for the week. I texted James very quickly to see if he could meet us somewhere on his lunch break so Cash and I could give him goodbye hugs&kisses, and so we met for pizza, then hopped in the car and headed to Georgia!

Diane, while a wonderful person, suffers from the “Hangry Disorder”- you know when you get so hungry you start being angry- so once everything was finalized I had about 20 min to pack myself and my baby for an entire week out of town, any longer and Diane’s hunger may have caused her to change her mind about taking us. Until unpacking and sorting for this post, I actually really couldn’t remember what all I threw in the suitcase, I’d of liked to pack some other clothing options for myself, but you’ll quickly see I probably have more than enough to choose from.

Here’s what my luggage haul looked like (minus Bumbo, Carseat & Stroller of course) :

Side note: I totally had wayy better pics, but I can’t resist posting ones with the cutest photo-bomber ever! <3

Breaking it down and unpacking here is what the haul included for baby:

that took up the whole diaper bag, and 1/4 of my suitcase. While I was packing for myself I kind of just grabbed things I wear a lot that I know look good on me. I never really believed I had “go-to” outfits up until I started unpacking, and realized I really do LOVE all these items, they are easy “go-to’s” for any occasion!

I packed: 4 different easy tops, 3 sweaters, Black Skinnys, 2 pairs of  denim, 1 pair of mint chinos, 1 yellow-patterned skirt, 2 pairs of shorts, 3 button-downed blouses, my Macbook Air (duh), 1 maxi, 3 sundresses, 2 pairs of sandals, 2 pairs of  flats, and 2 pairs of sneakers, 1 pair of PJ’s (who needs to waste room with extra clothes to SLEEP in?!), toiletries, 3 skinny belts, 1 daisy headscarf, and 2 pairs of sunnies. The Marc Jacobs bag is filled with my make-up essentials, and 2 handfuls of random accessories (let’s hope I grabbed the right stuff!).

All in all I’m happy about what I grabbed, and so stoked I made a last minute spur-of-the-moment plan to go out of town! Cash did GREAT on the car ride, and he’s having a BLAST playing with Aunt Niki, Uncle Zach, Grandpa John and Lady Di! I won’t be posting as often this week in an effort to make this quality time count and stay off-screen.

Stay-at-home-moms: don’t be afraid to leave the hubs for a few days and take weekdays to make awesome adventures for you and your babies, trust me when I say, it’s not as hard as you think it is, and it’s SO WORTH IT!

  1. Brittany you r a super hero to pack that all in 20 minutes. I would take weeks to decide what to carry. And my hubby has Hangry disorder too. I loved your post but the pics are not showing up. I guess may b because I am on mobile.

    1. Oh, you have no idea!!! However, if you count my pre-preg clothes (which are neatly packed away under the bed) then I MIGHT have a few more outfits than he does 😉
