We’ve only got a little over a month left here to finish eating around the world, and this second trip was even better than the first time! Food & Wine Festival ends on Nov. 13th so if you haven’t made your way to Epcot yet, you’re in luck because I’m sharing more of my favorites from the booths at World’s Showcase from my second trip to Food & Wine Festival!
We started out in Mexico this time and I was really in the mood for a margarita after baking in the sun walking over to the World’s Showcase from the entrance. I figured, why not try the Spicy Apple Margarita with Tequila Chipotle Shrimp. I’m a really big seafood person and honestly the Tequila Chipotle Shrimp, served on a black bean huarache garnished with red and green cabbage, queso fresco, and crema Mexicana was SO delicious. All the flavors were incredible and it was a really great balance of different textures with the cabbage, crisp-yet chewy- huarache and spicy shrimp. However, I would NOT recommend this Spicy Apple Margarita. I went in thinking apples & cinnamon, and in reality it was like apples & jalapeño. Not a fav of mine at all.
After Mexico we hit up China for one of my absolute favorite Food & Wine Festival bites: Beijing Roasted Duck Bao Bun with Hoisin Sauce. The bun is so fluffy and sweet and sticky and just the best compliment to the duck, with onions as a garnish, this is something I come back to year after year at the festival. I had my duck with another fav, the Tsingtao Lager, this lager is nice and refreshing and a great sipper for your Food & Wine drinks.
In Germany we snagged a super affordable $6 Wine Flight with Samplings of Selbach Bernkasteler Kurfurstlay Riesling Kabinett, Mosel, Dr. Heyden Oppenheimer Sactrager Riesling Spatlese, Rheinhessen, and Selbach Riesling Classic Dry, Mosel. These wines were all really delicious in their own unique ways, very great choice if you’re a white wine lover that’s for sure! We paired our flight with the Schinkennudeln, pasta gratin with ham and cheese, which is another choice I get year after year. It’s basically like mac & cheese with ham and it’s as delicious as it sounds, even if you can’t pronounce the name.
Last stop on this round of the Food & Wine Festival was Italy, and I WILL be back to try more from their amazing menu, but this time I selected the Crispy Calamari with Spicy Pomodoro Sauce and Prosecco. So for starters, you basically can not go wrong with anything bubbly and sparkling at Food & Wine Fest and this Italian Prosecco is no exception. It’s sweet and bubbly and basically everything you could ever want. The Calamari was light and crispy as promised and the pomodoro sauce was a great compliment to the italian flavors in the breading on the calamari.
This was a smaller trip than we took around the world last time, but I’m just as impressed and can not wait to go back for more delicious food! Have you been yet? What’s your favorite booth?
