Staple Series: Floral Sundress

In my personal opinion, a floral sundress is one of the most fun, flattering, and crucial pieces to have in a woman’s wardrobe. Whether you work in an office all week and want something to kick back casually cute with on the weekends, or spend your days in yoga pants and want to stay comfortable but have something a little nicer for a date night, a sundress is a great go-to when you want to feel cute.

While I have quite a few floral sundresses, today I’ll be sharing with you my absolute favorite of those. This tiered floral sundress from target with adorable lace inserts was only $24.99! It comes in navy with a pink floral detail or cream with peach and green florals. While I have the navy I have added the other color to my cart several times, because I get so much wear out of the one I already have!

The length is absolutely perfect on my short frame, but honestly if you’re anywhere under 5’7 as long as you don’t wear it with wedges it’ll still look great. The tiered style it very flattering to my post-baby body, as it is slightly more fitted at my natural waist, and more roomy around my hips. It’s also got a great little sexy neckline, that’s subtle enough to still wear to playdates. I always pair this with either lace-up flats or low-key white tennis shoes, and simple accessories for a more casual laid back vibe. When dressing it up I like to pair it with wedges, a bright cardigan, and curly hair.

Not only is this dress the perfect spring and summer staple, it is easily worn throughout the seasons. For fall pair it with a bootie and a denim jacket, and for winter add some opaque tights, over-the-knee boots and a chunky sweater. The possibilities are really endless as far as styling goes with this must-have staple. The only question really is how many do you need?! Floral sundresses come in a variety of patterns, styles, and colors. I typically gravitate to blue based dresses with season-neutral patterns to really make it versatile, but honestly, you can never have TOO many floral sundresses in my personal opinion, so the more the merrier!

Yellow Florals

Nothing says spring like a floral dress right? Wanna double the spring-i-ness of the look? Make it a yellow floral dress. I didn’t think with blonde hair I’d be able to pull of yellow, but this particular color is just the right shade. It’s not too “mustard” and not too pale, making it the perfect shade for my blonde not to blend in.

James bought me these Marc Fisher wedges for my birthday and I have been in LOVE with them ever since. They are so easy to walk in, and give me just the right amount of extra height. I love that the carmel color goes so well with everything, and small perforated details on the top make them super on-trend for 2017.

This dress really makes a statement and the material is so light, that I didn’t want my accessories to overpower the outfit, so I finished this look with my Kendra Scott Tassel necklace, and Bourbon & Bowties bangles.

If you’re looking for cute brunch attire ideas this is a great one. Especially with Mother’s Day coming up this weekend. The fitted top accentuates my bust and smaller waist, and the pleats underneath the bust give me plenty of room for pancakes.

This outfit feels so perfect for the Spring to Summer transition. What do you think?

Floral Florida Spring

floral skirt

floral skirt

There’s nothing that quite says “Spring is Here” like a good floral skirt. Personally I am a sucker for all things floral. Floral skirts, shirts, dresses, handbags, give it all to me. I think floral prints in the right colors are timeless, and you can accessorize them in so many different ways they last throughout all the seasons. While it’s easy to pair a good floral pattern with some pearls and dressy heels, it’s also super fun to dress it down and spice it up a bit with hippie chic accessories and chill basics.

floral skirt

This floral wrap skirt is super lightweight, and in great colors like: navy blue, lavender and sage. In the winter time, this looks adorable with tights, boots and sweaters, but when it starts to warm up I love pairing it in a more laid back way.

By throwing on a super casual tank top, and fitted denim jacket, the look transforms from pretty and preppy, to sassy and edgy. Paired with some kicka$$ fringe heels and a maroon fringe bag, it’s the perfect look for any laid-back spring brunch or night out with friends.

I also really love personalizing my denim jacket with pins. I know you’re thinking accessorize an accessory?! , but yes, it’s super awesome. My friend Avian got me a hilarious Banana Pin for Christmas (inside joke), and it just adds a little extra pizazz to an already awesome article of clothing.

Pops of Color vs. Pastels

Easter has come and gone and I’m just now really waking up from my sugar/carb coma, to share my Easter OOTD. Like many families, we ALWAYS take family pictures on the major holidays: Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter… so that we’ll have memories to cherish for years to come. While I LOVE and dress specifically for these occasions, sometimes (like when you’re 29 weeks pregnant) that can put a major stress on selecting the right outfit for the day.

I tend to go shopping for the holiday at least a week or two before the holiday, to give me time to figure out the right shoes & accessories for the ensemble. While traditionally, I dive head first into pastels like mint, blush, and lavender for Easter, this year I found a floral dress in pop colors that was so beyond perfect in the way it fit, I had to make it work for Easter.

This floral dress from Express has great strap details on the back, and great pops of passionate pinks & neons throughout the navy & creme base colors of the dress. The shift fit has been PERFECT for my pregnancy thus far, and the chiffon material was wonderfully light and breezy while we were outdoors hunting for eggs in the Florida heat. For non-mommas, this dress would be wonderful done casually with a denim jacket and some espadrille wedges, but I like that it stands apart on it’s own with just minimal accessories. It also has a SLIGHT (this is important because I’m not sold 100% on the “trend” factor) hi-low hem, bringing the otherwise all 70’s shift dress into this modern era.

I styled this look with a simple turquoise necklace from House of Harlow 1960 (my fav, I wear this ALL the time), marbled studs from The Limited, and fabulous lace-up flats. Grab the Look here on ShopStyle Collective.

Passionate Pinks & Neon Yellows,

Floral Fabric Pants, the obsession is real.

It’s not too often I can come across something extremely comfortable AND fashion forward at the same time. I like to look casually cute when I walk to the park with Cash, however I also need to be wearing something that doesn’t make me sweat or cause pain so I can actually walk there and back. I found these amazing floral fabric ankle pants at Target, and feel in love instantly.

They are made of a lightweight cotton, and the pattern is so simple, it really goes with anything. I chose to pair it with a basic white tee shirt (H&M $12) and gray cardigan (Forever 21 $9). I accessorized with a fabulously over-the-top statement necklace with great bold coral and lavender stones,  my favorite watch from Frannies and a simple bangle from The Limited.

I got these Steve Madden flats last year at Rack Room on a BOGO deal, and have been using them as my pre-spring shoe all month! I love the woven creme design, and they are super easy to walk in!

Oh and the whole alphabet set of earrings is now at Forever 21 for $5, I LOVE them!

Lately I’ve really been into doing different things with my hair since James cut it shorter for me. Today I got really funky with it, and put it up in messy pigtail buns! So fun! And it kept me from constantly getting my hair blown in my face while we were outside today!

The whole look is just what I needed to perk me up out of my mid-week funk! It’s so motivating to go out and do something when you really like the way you present yourself to the world! Just because you’re a mom and need functionality when it comes to your clothes, doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice a cute look too!

Cotton Comfort,

Just Another Mani Monday

I received a sheet of Jamberry nail wraps complimentary for review purposes, the opinions stated are honest, unbiased and provided without compensation.

Part of my New Year’s Resolution was to paint my nails every Monday. While I have been doing it for the most part, it gets a little annoying having to remove the previous nail polish, paint carefully, and then sit still (while nearly everything starts to itch for some reason) while my nails dry. So when I came across a Jamberry representative in my Instagram news feed, I HAD to reach out!

Jamberry nail wraps are simple, work fast, don’t chip, and last for up to 2 weeks! Which is awesome for moms like me, who constantly have half-chipped manicures that they can’t find time to refresh with the kids always running around. You simply heat the back of the wrap, apply it to your nail, cut the excess off, file down the remaining edges, and reheat the edges to seal them!

I got the “Cup of Tea” set to wear with pink or red polish for a fun spring manicure!

cupofteaThese are so cute!! I love the floral mixed with the polka dots! It’s such a fun pattern-on-pattern for your nails!

I loved them so much I actually decided to host a Jamberry online party to get some rewards on purchasing some nail wraps! Right now they’re offering a Buy 3 Get 1 Free deal! Join the party here: Brittany’s Jamberry Party. I went ahead and made my wish list! Here are some of my favs:

Perfect for a casual manicure, it’s a “dressed up Jeans and Tee shirt” wrap.

Marsala Stripe

This is a wrap that could be dressed up or down, depending on what you wear with it. I love the idea of using this wrap on some nails and a floral wrap on others for a polished, fashion forward, manicure!

Icy Boysenberry Polka

This would be a great compliment to the marsala stripe if you wanted to do a different wrap on every nail type manicure. I love how the shimmer of the polka dots contrasts with the richness of the boysenberry color on this wrap!

Pickled Paisley

While this isn’t a wrap I would do on my entire hand, I love the punch of color it would provide as an accent nail with a mint manicure! I think I’ll need this for Easter most definitely!

This wrap would be a great compliment to the Pickled Paisley wrap! The colors in this are so juicy and fun, perfect for Spring and Summer!

Sweet Symphony

I don’t even feel like this one needs an explanation, it’s just so PERFECT!

Lost Ruins

This is such a wonderful simple pattern. It’s a clear wrap, meaning there’s no color behind it, but that just makes it SO much better! You could pair it with any jewel tone (I’m thinking fuchsia or teal) and it would stand out amazingly and be SO cute!

…and last but not least…

Sheet Music

This paired with a few red nails would look fabulous and classy! It would make a great untypical Valentine’s Day manicure!

Ok, I think I’m done raving about these nail wraps! Check out the website and see which ones are your favorite! Each sheet is only $15 (less than you’d pay for a manicure in a salon), and comes with enough wraps for all your fingers and toes! I like to use the wraps in conjunction with solid polish to make the wraps last longer!

Also feel free to connect with my new friend and Jamberry representative Kim on Facebook!

Stripes & Sheet Music,

Springing Forward (only a little late)

It’s gorgeous outside today! The sun is warm, there’s a great breeze going, it’s a great day to live in Tampa! This weather really reminded me of how excited I am to dress for spring! Bright colors, chambray and lace! Plus Easter is just around the corner so now we get to dress Cash up and adorably! I already bought his outfit at Target. It’s perfect for my baby!

Target Baby Outfit $20, worth it though, the bow tie is able to be detached and used for other outfits!

Here’s what I’m most looking forward to in Spring Style:

1. Sundresses

Sundresses are one of my all time favorite clothing styles, they are appropriate for any occasion: be that a brunch, casual hangouts with friends, picnics, festivals, etc…you name it, you can basically wear a sundress to it, I mean other than black tie affairs obvi. Even better than their versatility is their price, sundresses are always reasonable usually in the $15-30 range they’re super affordable for everyone. I mainly find mine at Goodwill, Target, Forever21, Ross/Marshalls/TJMaxx, and Francesa’s Collections. So fab and so right for spring paired with a sweet cardi, flats, wedges, or even a sandal.

I love the bright turquoise in this dress as well as the crocheted sleeve detail. Francesca's Collections $38

2. Bold Colors

Every spring there’s an “IT” color, 2013 was all about Mint Green, while 2012 was big on Corals, it seems like this year Highlighter Yellow is coming into stores in surprisingly elegant looking styles, we’re also seeing a lot of hot pinks, bright greens, and bold blues that are sure to turn heads, and make you look absolutely fun!

3. Nauticalness

It happens every spring and again in the summer, retailers sensing that a woman can’t turn down anything beach related because: let’s face it ladies… we LOVE the beach, put out all these awesome Reds, Navys and Whites. I’m not complaining because it seems that each year the spring and summer nautical lines get cuter and cuter. This year: Anchor & Sailboat prints! Ahoy!!!

4. Jumpsuits

Oh Oh Oh Oh YES!!!!! I was weary about this one after seeing a few rather “fitting” jumpsuits on some bigger girls who were clearly just not wearing the appropriate size, but once ordering mine from, I have begun to adore these! I’ve only had mine for 5 days and already worn it twice! I usually cycle my clothes and don’t repeat outfits for a minimum of 30 days, but jumpsuits are so perfect they make it okay and completely acceptable to break even my own rules. This one is cotton, floral and has wide legs making it extremely comfortable, flattering and seasonally celebratory. I seriously can’t get over how awesome it is, I’ll def be buying more this season! Also props to James for male modeling, lol, we were playing horseshoes when the photos were taken, and he looks so good! The pics came out really amazingly like “Rich Chic” looking.
