Style Trend: Wide Leg Pants

So wide leg pants have become a thing, and I wasn’t sure how to feel about it. On one hand, they look super chic on basically every IG blogger I’ve seen rock them, but on the other hand, those bloggers don’t have my already wide thighs, so I wasn’t 100% about trying to pull them off. Would they make my legs look bigger? Would the bold pattern draw attention to an area I’ve been trying to mask for some time now? I decided to find out.

I picked these babes up at Target with a matching crop that just didn’t seem appropriate to wear to the donut shop with James last weekend. These have a side zipper and I had to size up one size to make sure they fit properly, but they are very comfortable!

I have to say shape wise I found these wide legs pants to be extremely slimming, it’s almost as if the shape of the pant actually disguises wider thighs and the pattern made my hips look much slimmer than I think they are in regular jeans. haha

Since I didn’t want to wear it as a two-piece set like it came, I paired the pants with a great flowy white sheer top from SheIn. This top was less than $15 and I LOVE how feminine the tiers and slight ruffle on the sleeve makes it! To keep the look super casual I wore my Sam Edelman sneakers and added a beaded bracelet stack to finish it off.

So the verdict is in: Wide Leg Pants are a total win in my book. What do you think about them?

Suit Cover or Cute Dress? You Decide

In one of my recent SheIn orders, I grabbed this adorable striped OTS dress that’s so lightweight it can double as a bathing suit cover-up for a pool or beach day! I love the light colors, and how the vertical stripes make me look longer and leaner just by tricking the eye. The off-the-shoulder style with ruffle layered sleeves makes it perfectly fashion forward for a babes brunch date too!

When James and I went to Naples last month, I wore this out exploring the city with him. I styled it in a slightly beachy way with loose waves in my hair and an Panama hat. The dress is a little short on me and I’m only 4’10”, so if you’re taller I’d suggest solely using it as a suit cover, or pairing it with skinny jeans for a cute tunic style. Other than the length I’d say the sizing runs very true to size, I got an XL in this for reference. Aside from that can we talk about the price?! $15!! How amazing is that?! For a dress with basically 3 different functions, that’s such a steal, and the quality on this piece is excellent.

Finishing off the look, I added my go-to Henri Bendel Crosby cross body bag, and some nice low-heel strappy Steve Madden sandals. We explored some areas like the Coconut Point Mall, where James’ BFF Wade owns a very nice salon, grabbed lunch at a juice bar, and did some shopping. It was such a fun trip, and the lightweight material of this dress kept me sweat-free while we walked all around in the summer heat.

While we were at Topsail Beach in NC on vacation, I used it as a suit cover for a day on the sand with the boys. While our hotel was on the beach, it was really nice to have something to throw on with flip-flops when we decided to leave the beach and walk straight to lunch. People stopped me a few times to compliment the dress, and I felt so cute, even with my post-baby bathing suit body!

How would you wear this? Suit Cover, Tunic, or Day Dress? Leave your ideas in the comments below! <3 You can grab the exact dress in the links above, but I’ve linked similar price/style options and other outfit details below!

Going Bananas

This dress is Bananas! B-A-N-A-N-A-S!

Ok, so I have to tell you all about this Banana print dress that I got a couple weeks ago! I recently started purchasing a few items here and there from SheIn Official. While my current goal is to have less and wear more, this website enables me to grab a few things here and there for special occasions. Buying a dress for an event can be an expensive task, and if you’re anything like me, you’ll only wear that event dress once, so going to websites like SheIn that offer great deals on fashion forward finds is a great option to stay on budget.

While shopping for an event, I found this adorable banana print dress. It gives me all the Gwen Stefani Holla Back Gurl feels and was only $16, so I added to cart. When ordering from discount websites, I highly suggest taking your measurements and comparing them to the sites sizing chart. This dress still fit a little snug in the chest, but that was easily fixed by adding a tank underneath and unbuttoning the buttons at the top.

My good friend Avian and I have a “banana” inside joke, so she thought this dress especially hilarious on a day out shopping with her. We met for lunch at California Pizza Kitchen and shopping Nordstrom for some quality pieces. I styled this dress very casually with my comfiest white Sam Edelman cut-out sneakers, Bourbon & Bowties bracelets, and Kate Spade State of Mind pendant.

My wavy hair parted in the center gives the whole look a very 70’s meets 90’s vibe that I really adore. I felt like a Brady Bunch kid honestly, and I have no regrets about that.

Any kind of fruit print is always really fun to wear, and this will carry through to fall easily with a denim jacket and some light brown ankle boots. Click the links above for the exact dress, all other items -and a few other adorable fruit printed dresses that I love- are linked below.
