White Before Labor Day

For all of you who follow this “can’t wear white after labor day” (which honestly is just a ridiculous rule because hello, winter white is what’s up) there’s only 33 more days left to get your fill of solid whites. Since we’ve all got our base tan in already, I wanted to share with you the perfect way to wear white before labor day. I picked up this gorgeous vintage style white sleeveless dress at the Express Outlet for under $40, and I couldn’t be happier with it.

For starters, wearing white makes you look SO much tanner than you actually are, so for anyone with a lighter complexion, a white dress is the perfect way to make yourself look like you have a little color without risking a sunburn or orangey false tan look. It’s the perfect way to show off that summer tan, and unless you’re going to a wedding, its appropriate for any occasion.

I wore this out to brunch with some girlfriends in Tampa. To make it dressier I added a lace bandeau and brown espadrille wedges that I love for summer. The dress speaks for itself, so just popping on a couple Bourbon & Bowties bangles along with my go-to Kate Spade State of Mind necklace made accessorizing clean and simple.

This dress also looks really adorable with flats and a colored cardigan for more of a work-week look, or with a denim jacket & converse for a really laid back feel. The ABSOLUTE best part of this dress is that it has pockets!!! Like seriously, all dresses and skirts should just come with pockets honestly, they make the look so much more functional.

I seriously felt all the Marilyn Monroe vibes rocking this dress, and the fit is SO flattering to every body type. For me it accentuated my good parts while concealing my hips, making it super slimming. On smaller frames it helps to give the illusion of a more curvy figure by accenting a small waist, making other curves look larger, in a good way . This fit-n-flare style is such a winner for any woman’s figure.

Unfortunately Express Outlet doesn’t offer online shopping so I can’t link this exact dress, but if you live close to one, I can tell you it’s still in-store and it comes in white AND maroon, so pick one up for now, and one up for fall! I’ve linked dresses below that are very similar in fit, and rank under the $75 price range. All other outfit deets are linked below as well. <3

Jumpin’ Jumpsuits!

About a week ago, one of my favorite plus size fashion bloggers Farrah Estrella of Estrella Fashion Report posted gorgeous photos of herself in a beautiful jumpsuit. I have always shied away from anything like that because I thought they just “weren’t made for my body”. Being thicker, I have what I call a “pooch” of fat right below my waistline, which means if any article of clothing cuts up through the “pooch” it will split it in two and make me look REAL awkward. I always thought since jumpsuits fit in to that clothing type they would never look good on me, however after seeing how awesome Farrah looked in hers, I was inspired to go out and find my own!

It didn’t take long before I found an amazing fitting jumpsuit in a fun navy, red and white ikat print at Ross! It was such a great deal, and looked so awesome I immediately ran to the checkout line!

I paired this jumpsuit with my denim jacket and brown and gold strappy sandals. Accessory wise I threw my “bad hair day” hair up into a high bun, then wore a great red turban headband and multi-layered beaded necklace from Forever 21.

Keep it 100,

Dressed in my Sunday Best

I worked all day at The Limited today, we had an amazing and fun Mother’s Day event that kept me movin’&shakin’ all day long! It was such a good time though, everyone was in high spirits and I got to see some of my favorite clients that I hadn’t seen in a while since I’ve started working less. On Instagram I like to do the #stylememay challenge which has given me a lot of inspiration lately. Image

As you can see today’s challenge was Polka Dots & Animal Spots, and since I had to work and didn’t have any LTD animal print, I just went with the classic polka dots! This white Cotton Sheen skirt is amazing, it’s lined so you don’t really have to worry about anything being see-thru, and it relaxes wonderfully as you wear it, meaning it actually get’s MORE comfortable as you wear it! I paired it with a navy polka dot button down (which has the neatest tiny red details), a navy&white cardigan which is more comfortable than anything else in the universe, and a cute pop of red in the necklace. I chose to wear nude flats since I knew I’d be running around all day, but if you wanted to really class up the look you could easily do a nude or red peep-toe heel!

It’s virtual dollars earning period right now so go stock up on cute Limited clothes!!! 😉

Spots & Dots,
